Italy Wins!

Alessandro Del Piero

World Cup July 4, 2006. Italy 2 Germany 0 in the semi-finals.

Stunning late extra-time strikes from Fabio Grosso and Alessandro Del Piero took Italy into the World Cup final at Germany's expense with a 2-0 win.

Final goal by my favourite player, Alessandro Del Piero!

Forza Azzurri!

I’m off to celebrate.

  1. Klinsmann, who aspired to pair the great Franz Beckenbauer by obtaining championships as player and coach, had a reality check.
His championship as a player was due to an inexistant penalty kick and all the refferees' help that hsi team received to reach the semis was not enough to earn a ticket to Berlin.

  3. Yes damnit the girlie-men pussies on the Italian DIVING Team managed to come to life in the final moments.
I watched the childish antics of the ever so delicate exhibitionist Mamma's boys as they performed their standard outrageous performances of feigned injury OOOHHH MAMA MIA MY ANKLE SHES A BROKE!!! on their way to a surprise (but deserving) victory. UUGGGHH!

  4. Sine Metu: Bienvenido a Infomaniac. The Italy-Germany match was the best I've seen during the entire World Cup 2006. Not a dull moment. Both sides gave it their best.

Pamela: I thought I was alone. Yay!

HE: You sound word-for-word exactly like my husband.
*thumbs nose at both of you*

  5. I was convinced by half time, Italy would win by one goal or Germany would win on penalties.

    Great game!

  7. Wonderful, wonderful. I think we must have woken up the neighbours with our cheering when the second goal went in.

  8. Betty: You and me both. The neighbours now must think I'm having an affair with someone named "Del Piero" the way I kept calling out his name. And surprisingly, I didn't break any household objects as I danced around the room flinging myself about.

  10. First Nations: If I may put in my Canuck two cents worth, I agree with you. Jimi's is the version I imagine in my head when the official version is being played.

No, all soccer persons are not fine. A few names spring to mind but I'll restrain myself from mentioning them. Anyone else, feel free to jump in though. I think I'm in danger of becoming the soccer/football totty blog but I can't help myself. We must head out together to Germany NOW and give Alessandro Del Piero a good sudsing.
