Project Maple Syrup

8,000 cans (over 5 tonnes) of maple syrup are on their way to Norway from grateful Canadians.

Norwegian coach Bjoernar Haakensmoen came to the rescue of Canadian cross-country skier Sara Renner at the Turin Olympics when Renner broke her ski pole. Haakensmoen handed Renner a spare pole and Renner went on to win the silver medal. Norway placed fourth in the event.

Thousands of cans of maple syrup will be distributed to Norwegians.

No word on whether or not Norwegians will send lutefisk to Canada in return.

  1. Norway sends the UK a Christmas tree for Trafalgar Square every Christmas. Something to do with the War.

Maybe we ought to send Canada something. Marmite, maybe?

  2. No, Geoff! Not Marmite! I’d rather have Pete Doherty air-dropped onto Canada than eat a lifetime supply of Marmite. Wait. I take that back.

  3. Wait...that's weird.

I took 6 cans of that exact same brand with me to Norway.

Trust me...we dont' want to lutefisk. Send Aquavit instead.
